It works well in my 2004 E61 530d, but I didn’t find the operation and installation easy to understand at first. AUX needs to be activated in the car for sound to work. I don’t think the sound quality is great, but it gets the job done.

Transition-year vehicles: We check the original unit and connections on transition-year vehicles, especially F10. The menu alone does not identify the required wiring.

EVO ID5 / ID6 hardware and any required audio interface are identified during our equipment review. Where the original AUX route is unavailable, additional audio hardware may be needed for mirroring or USB playback. Our technical team matches the audio hardware to your original equipment within the BMW package. You do not need to choose a separate sound-card version to order.
MGU ID7 requires an individual display, connection and audio check. The appropriate audio hardware is matched within the BMW package. Select your model and production year to order; our technical team will email if additional equipment information is needed.
Detailed installation diagrams are available in the BMW installation manual. Use the instructions supplied with your exact kit for final connections and DIP-switch settings.

This retrofit uses a supported factory display. Retained iDrive and steering-wheel controls depend on the original equipment and matching kit.
