Ford SYNC 2 8-Inch Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto Interface

DRIVEVORA smartphone integration for selected Ford vehicles with the original 8-inch SYNC 2 system. This retrofit retains the original display; it is not a replacement touchscreen or a SYNC 3 upgrade.

Have the original 6.5-inch display? Compare the Ford 6.5-inch SYNC 2 decoder and internal-board kit. The 6.5-inch and 8-inch hardware versions are not interchangeable.

Features

• Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto bring supported phone navigation, calls, music and messaging to the original display. App availability depends on the connected phone and platform.
• The listed functions include Mirror Link, CarLife and USB flash-drive playback. These are phone/media functions, not an independent navigation computer.
• Steering-wheel and touchscreen operation depend on the vehicle equipment. Siri voice control is supported with a compatible iPhone.
• Adjustable audio EQ. The interface uses separate audio and picture integration; use the audio connections supplied for this exact system rather than assuming a universal USB-only audio path.

• Front/rear camera integration is listed for PAL/NTSC CVBS and AHD 720p signals. Camera compatibility depends on the connected camera and wiring; camera inputs do not mean every package includes a camera.
• Camera display settings include trajectory selection/adjustment and front-view timing. Right-view configurations are also described, but no separate right-view camera package is offered in the options below.

Hardware application: factory Ford 8-inch SYNC 2. Do not substitute the separately listed 6.5-inch SYNC 2 interface. This version is described as an integrated decoder with a model-specific frame. The illustrated base accessories are listed below.

Hardware & Included Accessories

The hardware illustration identifies a CarPlay motherboard, model-dependent host housing, power cable, USB cable, Wi-Fi antenna and screws. Two host-housing styles are pictured for different original head units; this is not a promise that both housings are supplied in one package. The camera add-on is specific to the +CAM option.

Audio and media: Set up the supported factory AUX or OEM Bluetooth audio path using the matching guide. Vehicles without supported OEM Bluetooth audio may need AUX. The installation guide lists USB flash-drive audio and 720p video playback; this is media playback capability, not a new screen-resolution specification.

Compatibility

The vehicle applications and year ranges below require the specified factory equipment. Every row requires original 8-inch SYNC 2 equipment. Dates alone do not identify the installed system or certify every U.S.-market trim.

Not compatible with SYNC 1 or SYNC 3. Transit Connect and Kuga are also mentioned in the product information, but no model-specific year range is established for either. A broad SYNC 2 year range does not establish compatibility for every Ford model.

Installation

• Power off the vehicle before installation. Carefully remove the center-console trim, protecting the original components.
• The illustrated procedure removes the factory motherboard, fits the CarPlay motherboard with the OEM board and matching rear cover, and reconnects the harness. Do not pull the short original harnesses by force. Test before reassembling the console. Test the module before tightening the final screws.
• This version is described as using integrated decoding without a separate external decoder box or DIP-switch programming. Its installation differs from the 6.5-inch motherboard-and-decoder version.
• Installation tools are not included and must be purchased separately. Use the correct interface connections for the vehicle and any camera being installed. Camera capability does not mean all camera accessories are included.
