Mercedes NTG: Find the Right CarPlay Upgrade
Shopping for a Mercedes-Benz CarPlay upgrade often starts with a familiar question: “Will this fit my C-Class, E-Class, or S-Class?” The model is useful, but the factory infotainment system is just as important.
Mercedes product pages may distinguish between NTG 3.0, NTG 3.5, NTG 4.5, NTG 4.7, NTG 5.0, NTG 5.1, and NTG 6.0 MBUX. These labels should not be treated as interchangeable versions of one universal interface.
Match the NTG family first
Each listing describes a particular hardware family. A product for NTG 4.5 / 4.7 / 5.0 / 5.1 is not automatically suitable for NTG 4.0 or NTG 6.0. Likewise, an NTG 6.0 MBUX product does not establish compatibility with every MBUX generation.
Use the model year as a starting point, then compare the original system, display requirements, and product configuration. Previous head-unit changes can also affect the match.
Photograph the menu and surrounding controls
A clear image of the factory main menu helps show the interface layout. A wider dashboard image adds the screen position, controller, and button layout.
Individual details, such as a CLEAR button or the appearance of a media slot, can provide clues. They are not enough to guarantee fitment on their own. Avoid ordering solely from a photo that looks similar to another car online.
Confirm the audio arrangement
Screen compatibility and audio compatibility need to be checked separately. Depending on the product, different packages may include additional audio hardware or require a particular connection.
For example, the NTG 6.0 MBUX interface offers configurations with different audio accessories. An AUX box should not be assumed to be standard in every package.
Decide whether you want to keep the display
A factory-screen interface works with a supported original display. A replacement screen changes the display itself. A larger replacement screen may be attractive, but it still needs to match the vehicle and factory connections.
Read our retrofit versus screen upgrade guide if you are deciding between the two approaches.
Ask with the right information
Send your model, model year, original market, left- or right-hand-drive configuration, and dashboard photos to drivevora.work@gmail.com. Include any known system details and previous modifications.
Getting the NTG system and audio configuration right before ordering gives you a clearer basis for selecting the appropriate kit and planning its installation.
